THE SYSTEM

DESCRIPTION & BACKGROUND

Long-range shooting is a very challenging activity. It requires intensive long training and good levels of understanding mathematical calculations, ballistics, wind reading and range estimation. This is why it’s not for everyone, and this is why good long-range shooters are highly coveted sportsmen and soldiers.

Until recently, it usually took six months to one year to train a match shooter or a sniper. And in most cases training alone was not enough, as good shooting skills are considered a talent which is only observed in a small portion of the general population, just as with any other talent.

At FK BRNO®, we saw a need to develop a system that not only made it easier for new shooters to master long range shooting but also encourages them through achieving quick and practical field success to continue with the sport and shooting activities in general.

This system was created by first identifying and then mitigating the issues and barriers that hinder new long-range shooters from mastering the sport/activity - some of which are:

  • High recoil sensitivity (flinch effect and sound effect that usually accrue by using high powered long range rifle).

  • High understanding of ballistics.

  • Correct range estimation, without a laser range finder.

  • Correct mathematical calculations of trajectory.

  • Correct wind deflection projection estimation at longer ranges.

  • Understanding and using the mil dot and other very complex scope reticle systems.

  • Heavy, large, and often cumbersome and intimidating high-caliber long-range systems.

  • Small-caliber systems did not have the sufficient ballistic coefficient to be accurate and precise at longer ranges (not to mention enough kinetic energy and other terminal ballistics traits when used in medium to large animal hunting).

The 6.5 “Blind Sniper®” rifle system mitigated all of the above barriers.

THE CARTRIDGE

DESCRIPTION

 

The cartridge is well-known, tried, and true: 6.5 x 55 SE loaded with 8.3 grams proprietary monolithic hollow point bullets that are designed to shoot at targets up to 800 meters.

CURRENT STATUS AND USE

 

This cartridge is designed for hunting and has a well-proven record of taking medium to large size animals. It can also be used in Olympic and other shooting sports and competitions.

THE RIFLE

DESCRIPTION

The rifle is a modified mauser action with a specially-designed match grade conical barrel in two lengths: 56 and 61 cm, using a unique and proprietary multi-radial twist.

It has a 3- and 6-round magazine. The adjustable stock (for both lengths and heights) is made from a special mix of polymers so that it maintains rigidity while having a lower weight than wood or other rigid polymers.

All metal parts of the rifle, including the barrel, are nitrided using a unique process that also increases corrosion-resistance and barrel life.

CURRENT STATUS AND USE

The rifle is currently available for target shooting at 300 m, 600 m, and 800 meters. In addition, it can be used for hunting medium to large game.

THE SCOPE

DESCRIPTION

The scope is a Front Focal Plain mil/mil 6-24 x 56 variable power scope, with very high clarity and advanced light gathering and transmission lenses. The reticle is a proprietary design by FK BRNO and specifically calibrated to the special loads in the 6.5 x 55 SE cartridge and barrel that are used in the rifle. It has a trajectory compensation system and wind drift projection points in addition to the usual mil/mil calculation scales.
